Joint Venture: AutoScout24 and Pronto-Moscow open new online marketplace for Russian used cars

The Scout24 Group is further growing internationally: Germany’s best-known online car market AutoScout24 and subsidiary of the Scout24 Holding is expanding its presence in Eastern Europe. From now on, both dealers and private customers can buy and sell cars and enjoy the extensive information available at AutoScout24 and Pronto-Moscow, a subsidiary of Trader Media East (TME), signed a joint venture agreement to expand together in Russia. The new company will be called AutoScout24. The aim is to open up the Russian used car market. Around 20 new jobs, mainly in sales and marketing, will be created in the first instance by mid-2010. Including Russia, AutoScout24 now has a presence in 18 countries in all.

“The Russian market offers outstanding growth opportunities for the Scout24 Group, and is of great strategic importance to us. We look forward to opening it up with our strong joint venture partner Pronto Moscow,” says Dr. Martin Enderle, the Scout24 Group’s CEO. “Pronto Moscow’s massive presence in the Eastern European print and online classifieds market makes it the ideal partner for us.“

"This new joint venture is the next step in our expansion strategy. In Russia there are 4-5 million changes of car ownership each year”, says Dr. Nikolas Deskovic, AutoScout24’s Managing Director. “Our aim is to be market leader in three years at the latest.”

The joint venture is a win-win situation for Pronto-Moscow too: “We are looking forward very much to working with AutoScout24. AutoScout24’s profound experience and expertise in international markets, combined with our local knowhow and strong media presence, will strengthen our position in the Russian market still further”, adds Fedor Ogarkov, CEO of Pronto-Moscow.

This expansion of the Scout24 Group supports the implementation of Deutsche Telecom’s group strategy by complementing and further developing the portfolio in the strong growing internet business.
